Amazon has now launched the second version of its ebook reader namely Kindle 2. It has a slimmer iPod-like design with rounded edges, improved screen and better battery performance.
The aim of the new device is that an ebook will be available within 60 seconds, "said Jeff Bezos, head of Amazon, at a presentation in New York.

As of today it is available over 230 000 book titles for the Kindle. The price of each title is the $ 9.99 or less.
While Kindle 2 was publicly launched Amazon also Whisper sync service that makes it possible to synchronize between multiple devices. In the future, a Kindle-book could also be synchronized to mobile phones.

It can read text up to the user.
It has a new navigation system.
Text size is adjustable.
It has built-in dictionary.
QWERTY keyboard can be used to write notes in the text.
It a 6-inch black and white screen with a resolution of 600x800 pixels.
It has 2 GB of internal memory.

Kindle 2 will also be able to play back MP3 files and can be used to surf the web, and convert PDF documents.
The new device has a suggested retail price of 359 USD, and will be ready delivery on Tuesday 24 February, but U.S. users can order the factors from Amazon.com. It is linked to a U.S. mobile network that does not work in Europe.
